Media Notes: Premier League Awards Media Rights For Spain, Romania

The Premier League announced Multi Media Sports has been awarded the exclusive audio visual broadcast rights for all 380 EPL matches per season from '13-14 through '15-16 in Spain and Romania. The rights to the two territories were acquired in separate auction processes (Premier League). ... The Australian Super Rugby derby between the Queensland Reds and NSW Waratahs in Brisbane on Saturday will for the first time in the competition's 18-year history see a match official wear a mini-camera "which will transmit images through broadcaster Fox Sports." Rugby will become the first football code to use the innovation as part of live TV coverage (FAIRFAX, 2/21). ... Local Cambodian TV channel MyTV is set to screen a brand new format boxing show entitled Kun Khmer Warriors Championship starting May 5. The program will feature 24 fighters who have been "trained in Kun Khmer kickboxing, wrestling and the ancient martial art of Bokator," with fights held every Sunday in weight classes including 57kg, 60kg and 65kg (PHNOM PENH POST, 2/20).
