Former Sri Lanka cricketer turned politician SANATH JAYASURIYA "was appointed chairman of selectors in a new-look five-member committee" named by the country's Sports Minister MAHINDANANDA ALUTHGAMAGE on Monday. Jayasuriya, 43, is joined by 1996 World Cup-winning teammate PRAMODYA WICKRAMASINGHE. Former Sri Lanka players HEMANTHA WICKRAMARATNE, ERIC UPASHANTHA and CHAMINDA MENDIS were also appointed as selectors (REUTERS, 1/28). ... Wellington New Zealand's Westpac Stadium CEO DAVID GRAY "is standing down" after 16 years and "declaring it the country's most successful venue." Gray, who will be retiring in June, was hired in '97 when the $130M stadium "was still just a concept." The Wellington Regional Stadium Trust is advertising for a new CEO and "expects a new appointee to take up the job before the end of June" (DOMINION POST, 1/24). Former Blackburn Rovers Chair JOHN WILLIAMS will succeed PETER HEARD as the new chairman of Professional Game Match Officials Limited. Williams will take up his position at the end of the '12-13 Premier League season. Williams was CEO and chairman of Blackburn from 1998-2011 and more recently worked with BRIAN MARWOOD at the Manchester City football operations department (EPL).

COACHES/MANAGERS:
Scottish Premier League club Dundee United has announced that Manager PETER HOUSTON has left the club "by mutual consent" (PA, 1/28). ... Former Bayern Munich and German national team player MEHMET SCHOLL has revealed that "he will terminate his contract as coach of Bayern Munich's reserve team at the end of the season" to focus on his job as broadcast analyst for German public broadcaster ARD (DWDL, 1/28).
