Rangers CEO Charles Green Tries To Win Over Fans Before Renaming Ibrox

Scottish Third Division Rangers CEO Charles Green will attempt to convince fans face-to-face that "Ibrox should be renamed" for £2.5M ($3.9M), according to Scott McDermott of the Scotland DAILY RECORD. Green will "meet supporters groups at the stadium to discuss a potential deal" with Newcastle Owner Mike Ashley, founder of British retailer Sports Direct. Green "hopes to cash in on the naming rights to Ibrox," by incorporating Ashley's Sports Direct brand. Green is "keen to accept Ashley’s offer," of a £1.5M ($2.4M) down payment, which will rise to £2.5M if Manager Ally McCoist's team "achieves certain targets" (DAILY RECORD, 1/23).
