Eintrach Frankfurt Coach Veh Criticizes City For High Stadium Rent

Bundesliga Eintracht Frankfurt coach Armin Veh "has once again criticized the high stadium rent by the city," according to the SID. Veh said, "Frankfurt is indeed an awesome city in which a lot of money flows. However, all that money doesn't come to us. We pay €10 million ($13.3M) rent for the stadium annually; plus two-and-a-half million ($3.3M) for the naming-rights that we miss out on. That is horrendous, other clubs go bankrupt under those circumstances." Despite on-going negotiations between Club Chair Heribert Bruchhagen and the city, Veh does not have a lot of hope that the situation is going to change in the near future. He said Bruchhagen "also knows that we pay and pay and regardless of it don't own one brick of the stadium. When a club builds a stadium, it sets a manageable timetable in which it pays off debt to later own the stadium. However, we shovel our money in a bottomless hole" (SID, 1/10).
