Renault To Provide Additional F1 Teams With Engines In '14 Season

Engine manufacturer Renault could provide additional F1 teams with its engines should the proposed new engine regulations take effect in '14, according to Stefan Ziegler of MOTORSPORT TOTAL. Renault Chair & CEO Carlos Ghosn said that "he could imagine Renault providing additional teams with its engines in the future." He said, "As many as the rules allow." Under the current regulations of motorsport governing body FIA, an engine manufacturer is only allowed to provide more than three teams with its engines with special permission. Renault provides engines for Red Bull Racing, Lotus, Williams and Caterham. Ghosn said, "Our technology is not limited to only a few racing teams. We are willing to supply additional teams." He added: "Having a very strong technological partnership with Red Bull will continue to be our priority. We always want to be part of the team that wins and fights." As long as F1's engine technology moves in an "environmentally friendly direction," Renault feels comfortable in F1 (MOTORSPORT TOTAL, 11/25).
