Event Notes: Pakistan Cricket Board To Host India, South Africa In 2013

The Pakistan Cricket Board is anticipating hosting arch rivals India and South Africa in a full-fledged series in the later half of '13. The series is not in the Int'l Cricket Council Future Tour Program, but PCB CEO Zaka Ashraf is trying to convince these countries to tour Pakistan "in a bid for revival of int'l cricket in Pakistan" (PAKISTAN TODAY, 11/13). ... The Asian qualifying tournament for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup from Jan. 22-26 will be held at Katara Beach in Doha, Qatar. The World Cup will be held in the Pacific Island nation of Tahiti from Sept. 18-28 (GULF TIMES, 11/13). ... The German Hockey League's (DEL) "Winter Game" will break the European record for attendance at an outdoor hockey game. The league revealed that it has already sold more than 36,444 tickets, which is the current European record, for its inaugural Winter Game between the Nuremberg Ice Tigers and Eisbären Berlin on Jan. 5 (DEL). ... Naples, Italy will host the first America's Cup World Series event of '13 from April 16-21. Naples originally hosted the America's Cup World Series in April, drawing more than 500,000 spectators on site (America's Cup).
