The O2 arena in London has appointed Haymarket magazine Event and Media Week Editor JEREMY KING as director of communications as the venue goes up for sale. King will succeed STEPHEN FARMER in December (PRWEEK.com, 11/1). ... New Zealand Cricket board member and former Test player STEPHEN BOOCK was named president of New Zealand Cricket. His appointment was confirmed at the governing body's 118th annual meeting in Wellington on Thursday. Boock succeeds DENIS CURRIE, who served the maxium three one-year terms. The board also appointed Northern Districts Cricket Association Chair GREG BARCLAY as a new director, replacing BRENT KING (APNZ, 11/1). ... Korea Football Association President CHO CHUNG-YUN said he "will not run for a second term" in January's election. Cho: "Now is the time to leave ... I hope someone, who is truly sincere in football will be elected as the new president." K-League President JUNG MONG-GYU and former league sponsor Hyundai Oilbank CEO KWON OH-GAP "are being touted as possible candidates for the post" (KOREA TIMES, 11/1).

MANAGERS: Former Wolverhampton Wanderers Manager MICK MCCARTHY has signed a three-year deal to become the manager of League Championship club Ipswich Town. His former Wolves assistant TERRY CONNOR will join him at the club. McCarthy replaces PAUL JEWELL (London GUARDIAN, 11/1). ... League Championship club Crystal Palace has confirmed that interim coach LENNIE LAWRENCE has left the team and will be following DOUGIE FREEDMAN to fellow League Championship club Bolton Wanderers. In a statement the club said, "CURTIS FLEMING will take charge of first-team affairs assisted by development coach JAMIE FULLARTON and first-team captain PADDY MCCARTHY" (PA, 11/1).
