More Than 100 NHL Players Play Overseas, 32 Have Found A New Home In The KHL

NHL players Daniel Briere and Claude Giroux "not only impress German hockey fans with their exciting playing style, but they also have proved to be an efficient addition to their club," according to Alexander Petri of the DONAUKURIER.de. The two Canadians "joined German Hockey League (DEL) champions Eisbären Berlin during the North American league's lockout." Briere has scored 11 points in four games, and Giroux has scored 10 also in four games. Nobody knows how long the NHL's lockout will last, but more and more players "are tired of waiting and are heading overseas to stay in shape while competing on the ice." More than 100 NHL players have joined hockey clubs throughout Europe, with most of them in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League. NHL Detroit Red Wings and Swedish national team forward Henrik Zetterberg has recently joined Swiss team EV Zug and scored five goals and two assists in his first three games with the team (DONAUKURIER.de, 10/25).
