Korean Series championship Manager KIM EUNG-RYONG "has been named to take charge" of the Korea Baseball Organization club Hanwha Eagles. The Daejeon-based signed the 71-year-old to a two-year 900M won ($809,000) deal that would earn him an annual salary of 300M won ($270,000) (KOREA TIMES, 10/8). ... Doctor GIORGOS SARRIS has been elected as president of the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO). In Oct. '08, he was elected to the EPO board (UEFA).

MANAGERS: Australian Football League club Gold Coast Suns Assistant Coach KEN HINKLEY has agreed to a four-year contract to become coach of AFL club Port Adelaide (AAP, 10/8). ... UAE club Ittihad Kalba Coach DRAGAN TALAJIC has become the "first managerial casualty of the new season" after the club decided to part ways with the Croatian. Talajic won the the 2004 Asian Football Confederations Champions League with Saudi club Al Ittihad and enjoyed domestic success in Jordan and Kuwait, but has watched Kalba lose its four games this season (THE NATIONAL, 10/8). ... ... Russian cycling team Katusha appointed former professional cyclist VYACHESLAV EKIMOV to the position of GM. Ekimov will replace German HANS-MICHAEL HOLCZER (Katusha Team).
