MediaCom has "bolstered its London headquarters with the senior appointments of JAMES HOUGH, JOHN SCURFIELD and MISHA SHER. Hough joins from Havas Sports & Entertainment and Scurfield joins from OMD’s Fuse, where he was head of sponsorship in the U.K. Together they form part of the new leadership team. Sher is responsible for developing MediaCom Sport’s four-year deal to support brand extensions for Brazilian legend PELE (MEDIAWEEK.co.uk, 9/24). ... Hockey Calgary President TODD MILLAR "has apparently resigned after calling parents who favoured bodychecking in pee wee hockey 'morons.'" He used the word "multiple times in a personal blog he wrote five months ago." Millar is "believed to have sent a resignation letter" to Hockey Calgary's board of directors resigning from the volunteer post (GLOBE & MAIL, 9/24). ... Football Association Chair DAVID BERNSTEIN is set to stay in his role until the 2014 World Cup in Brazil "after it was agreed to stretch the national governing body's retirement policy." FA board members decided unanimously at a recent meeting to extend Bernstein's tenure as chairman by a year beyond his 70th birthday. It was also agreed "to pursue an amendment" to the FA statute that forces all board members to retire when they turn 70 (LONDON TIMES, 9/25).
