PSG Closing In On $130M Annual Deal With Qatari Bank

Ligue 1 Paris St. Germain is "about to find a solution" to put itself within the new UEFA Financial Fair Play rules thanks to a record  €100M ($130M) annual sponsorship deal, according to the AFP. The "enormous contract" is in advanced stages of discussion with an unknown Qatari bank, and "would most likely" be for four years. A PSG management source told AFP, "It is possible the deal has already been signed." The Qatari bank "would like to become the jersey sponsor of PSG next season." It would replace Fly Emirates, whose contract runs through '14. Emirates pays the Parisian club €3.5M ($4.6M) annually. The Qatari investors would also like the naming rights to the Parc des Princes Stadium. PSG General Dir Jean Claude Blanc had no comment on the possible deal but said, "As a whole, the revenue lines of PSG are seeing rapid growth, and a large number of contracts are currently being discussed." If the deal is signed, PSG "would be safe from any possible UEFA sanctions" (AFP, 9/19).
