Marketplace Roundup: Naza Group Sponsors The Sultan Of Selangor's Cup

Naza Group of Companies has "come on board as the main sponsor for the Sultan of Selangor's Cup football competition" at the Shah Alam Stadium in Malaysia on Sept. 29. The company handed over a sponsorship of RM300,000 ($98,800) to Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah. Other sponsors for the event are Syabas Berhad (RM200,000/$65,900); B&G Capital Resourses Berhad and Permodalan Negeri Selangor Berhad RM100,00 ($32,900) each while SP Setia Berhad, Splash Sdn Bhd, Taliworks Corp. Berhad, Commerce Dot Com Sdn Bhd and Tan Sri Mustapha Kamal are contributing RM50,000 ($16,500) each. The event "was initiated in '01 by Sultan Sharafuddin to foster better relations between Selangor and Singapore" (THESTAR.com.my, 9/8). ... German second-tier hockey club Landshut Cannibals "signed a sponsorship deal with local brothel Lustra." The logo of the brothel will be featured on the club's practice jerseys (T-ONLINE.de, 9/15). ... Online travel agency Webjet has extended its sponsorship of Australian Football League Melbourne FC for the '13 season. Webjet will appear on the front of the Demons' jerseys and all training apparel, as well as on signage around the MCG stadium (Melbourne FC).

ATHLETE ATTENTION: CIMB bank revealed that it will be sponsoring Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan, men’s national number two squash player. The 26-year-old Nafiizwan, currently ranked No. 33 in the world, will be signing an annual renewable agreement with CIMB, joining Dato’ Nicol David and Ong Beng Hee, Malaysia’s top two professional squash players, as CIMB-sponsored world-class athletes (CIMB). ... Adidas has roped in Indian cricketer Suresh Raina as its brand ambassador, and the player "will be sporting the company's cricket gear in the forthcoming T20 World Cup" (THE FINANCIAL EXPRESS, 9/16).
