Björk Sells Shares In Himself To Fund His Ambition Of Joining The European Tour

Golfer Alexander Björk is "aiming to become the first in the world to sell shares in himself" to fund his ambition of joining the top flight European Tour, according to Patrick Lannin of REUTERS. The Swede currently plays on the Nordea Tour and "is the guinea pig for finance company Trade in Sports," who are testing a new way of financing talent in the Nordic state. Björk said, "It feels great to be among the first, and I hope that others will be able to benefit if it's a success." To help pay for training and travel, Trade in Sports is "offering to sell shares" at 100 Swedish crowns ($15) each in Björk to raise a total of 396,000 crowns ($60,100). The IPO will take place from August to December. After that period, a secondary trade in the shares is planned. Investors will receive 15% of any prize money Björk receives (REUTERS, 8/29).
