Puma Will Open Its First 'Green' Store In India

Sportswear brand Puma is "set to open its first sustainable (read: green) standalone store" in Bangalore, India as "part of a global initiative," according to Priyanka Pani of THE HINDU. Puma Managing Dir Rajiv Mehta said, "This is Puma’s first such store in the world. We are starting the project with India and depending on its success, will replicate it in other countries." The Bangalore store has incorporated a number of sustainable elements, "such as solar PV panels installed on the roof to generate electrical power, an air tunnel for cooling, use of shoe cartons-cum-carry bags and the use of organic cotton for apparels." In addition, material used for the store "is to be locally sourced and recycled" (THE HINDU, 8/22).
