Paralympic Games organizers have released an extra 45,000 tickets as "steady demand for a slice of London 2012 action continues," according to Nick Pearce of the London TELEGRAPH. Most of the tickets on sale this week are for athletics sessions, although a "limited amount" of wheelchair basketball, track cycling, equestrian and rowing tickets are also available. The new tickets are in addition to the 20,000 tickets currently available to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Games. LOCOG Chair Sebastian Coe said: "After the nation took the Olympic Games and Team GB to their hearts in such a spectacular way, it is no surprise that they look set to do the same for ParalympicsGB and the Paralympic Games" (TELEGRAPH, 8/16). In London, Tom Peck reported that day passes to the Olympic Park, which give access to specific seating areas for sports including rugby, wheelchair tennis and basketball, "will also be extremely limited." LOCOG does not want empty seats, but that may be difficult because Paralympics sessions are longer, and spectators "can use their tickets to go in and out of lots of different events." Meanwhile, the Royal Mail, has "bowed to pressure" and will issue stamps commemorating every Paralympic Gold Medal won by Team GB, following an approach from the Shadow Olympics Minister Tessa Jowell (INDEPENDENT, 8/16).
