Healthway Signs Three-Year Deal With Perth Wildcats

Western Australian government body Healthway has "signed a three-year deal" to be the main partner of National Basketball League team Perth Wildcats as part of its "Alcohol. Think again" campaign, according to SPONSORSHIPNEWS.com.au. The $500,000-a-season deal is "independent of the federal government's anti-binge drinking campaign" spearheaded by the Australian National Preventive Health Agency. The agreement gives Healthway category exclusivity, and effectively stops the Wildcats from promoting alcohol brands or junk food. The "Alcohol. Think again" message will be visible on the front of the team's playing jersey. Healthway Exec Dir David Malone confirmed that the "deal was being negotiated well before ANPHA struck its $25M deal to assume the alcohol category of a variety of sports," including Basketball Australia (SPONSORSHIPNEWS.com.au, 8/16).
