British Olympic Association CEO Alex Horne Criticizes FA For Their Lack Of Support

British Olympic Association CEO Andy Hunt criticized the FA for "not supporting the idea" of Great Britain playing in the '16 Rio Games, according to Paul Kelso of the London TELEGRAPH. FA CEO Alex Horne has stated that it is "unlikely the '12 experiment of a British team will be repeated in Rio." Hunt, who was Chef de Mission of the British Olympic team at the London Games, said that the FA was "wrong" not to support teams at future Olympics and they "should support the legacy of the men and women's teams in London." In a reply to Kelly Smith, a member of the women's Olympic football team who stated the increased coverage of the women's game should be kept going, Hunt tweeted: "Totally agree with your comments re: Team GB women's football. It would just be wrong for the FA not to get behind this." In another tweet he said, "We need the FA to grasp the importance of the legacy for women's football from Team GB" (TELEGRAPH, 8/14).
