Marin Approves Possibility Of Maracana Hosting 2013 Carioca State Championship Matches

Rio de Janeiro Football Federation President Rubens Lopes said that the Maracana could be opened for the 2013 Carioca state championship, according to PORTAL2014.org.br. The possibility was approved by the head of the Brazilian Football Confederation and Local Organizing Committee Jose Maria Marin. The matches for the Rio state championship will "serve as tests" for the 2013 Confederations Cup. The Maracana is scheduled to be finished in February, and at this point is 59% completed. The stadium is set to host three Confederations Cup games next summer (PORTAL2014.org.br, 8/7).
