Rio De Janeiro 2016 Olympics Sponsor Nissan Looking To Learn From London Games

Nissan in Brazil is set to install a factory in Rezende, Rio de Janeiro in January which will "promises to change significantly" the lives of company execs in the coming year, according to Erich Beting of MAQUINADOESPORTE.com.br. The compnay will also begin preparation to be one of the main sponsors of the 2016 Rio Games. To better prepare itself, Nissan Brazil has sent an executive committee to London in order to "learn." Nissan Brazil Dir Francois Alain Dossa said, "We are here to experience and learn. We have looked at how the Games function, and also in what manner we can relate ourselves to the event." The company seeks to look at what the brands sponsoring the London Games have done to "relate themselves with customers" in order to better position themselves for success in '16. In '12, Nissan increased its "participation in the automobile market in Brazil." The brand is currently in sixth position when it comes to sales in the country (MAQUINADOESPORTE, 8/1).

WINNER: MEIO & MENSAGEM's Teresa Levin reported advertising agency F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi has been chosen by the Local Organizing Committee to promote the '16 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and Paralympics. The agency has until Feb. '13 to "deliver the communication plans" for the Games. Some of the other companies in the running for the contract included Artplan, JWT and Lew'Lara\TBWA (MEIO & MENSAGEM, 7/31).
