Sierra Leone, Liberia Agree To Promote Cricket Throughout Africa

Sierra Leone and Liberia have signed an agreement to work together to develop cricket in both nations and "encourage their neighbors to take up the game," according to the AFP. Sierra Leone Cricket Association Development Officer Emmanuel Pessima said the two countries had agreed “to coordinate cricket development activities” and encourage other countries in the Mano River Union — a four-nation bloc that also includes Guinea and Ivory Coast — to develop cricket programs. Sierra Leone will also "advise Liberians on how to produce cricket equipment" and will introduce Liberia's national team to fellow cricket-playing nations in Africa (AFP, 7/31).
