2014 World Cup Organizing Committee To Publish Team Base Camps Wednesday
The 2014 World Cup Local Organizing Committee will publish "the first edition of the list of Team Base Camps" to be used by national teams on Wednesday, according to COPA2014. The Team Base Camps are the venues that will be used by national teams as headquarters during the World Cup. They are made up of "training grounds and an official hotel." The list, which will be published at 9am at the football Museum in Sao Paulo, will be submitted to the teams that qualify to the event. Those teams then have the final decision "over where they will stay and train." The venues need to meet certain requirements, such as "being close to an airport where medium-sized aircrafts may land." The training groups must also be in close proximity to a hotel with 55 exclusive rooms. The assessment carried out by technicians takes into consideration "more than a hundred details related to the grounds and the hotels." Some of the things taken into consideration include: the electrical and water supply, access ways for the press and the team, places where interviews can take place, changing rooms and other facilities for the players, types of soil and drainage (COPA2014.gov.br, 7/30).
