Executive Transactions

The 124th IOC Session elected five new members and also voted on the positions of two IOC VP's and seven Executive Board members. The IOC also agreed to hold the 127th IOC Session in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in '15.  The new members are: AISHA GARAD ALI (Djibouti, linked to function within an NOC), PIERRE-OLIVIER BECKERS (Belgium, linked to function within an NOC), TSUNEKAZU TAKEDA (Japan, individual), FRANK FREDERICKS (Namibia, individual) and LI LINGWEI (China, individual). The two elected IOC VP's are: NAWAL EL MOUTAWAKEL and CRAIG REEDIE. The newest members of the Exec Board are: JUAN ANTONIO SAMARANCH, SERGEY BUBKA and WILLI KALTSCHMITT. The following four IOC members were elected or re-elected to the Exec Board: WU CHING-KUO (ASOIF), RENÉ FASEL (re-elected, AIOWF), PATRICK HICKEY (ANOC) and CLAUDIA BOKEL (Chair of the IOC Athletes' Commission). FRANCISCO ELIZALDE, ALPHA IBRAHIM DIALLO and CARLOS NUZMAN, whose IOC membership will terminate at the end of '12 due to the age limit, were appointed as honorary members as of Jan. 1, 2013 (IOC).

MANAGERS: Brasileiro club Flamengo has appointed DORIVAL JÚNIOR as its new head coach. Junior replaces JOEL SANTANA who was let go earlier this week (GLOBO ESPORTE, 7/25). ... Former England Manager FABIO CAPELLO has officially signed a contract with the Russian Football Union to become the new head coach of the Russian team. The 66-year-old replaces DICK ADVOCAAT (REUTERS, 6/26).
