Luxemburg Club F91 Dudelange's Stadium Does Not Meet UEFA Requirements

Luxemburg club F91 Dudelange's Jos Nosbaum stadium "does not fulfill the UEFA requirements to host a third-round Champions League qualification match," according to the LUXEMBURGER WORT. For the first time in history, a football club from Luxemburg "has reached the third round" of the CL qualification after F91 Dudelange's "sensational second-round defeat" of Red Bull Salzburg. F91 Dudelange has to host the rematch of its third round CL qualification against Slovenian club NK Maribor on Aug.8, but in order to make this happen UEFA would "need to grant Dudelange a special permission as its stadium does not meet the organization's requirements." UEFA requires that the playing field is at least 105m long and 68m wide. The stadium in Dudelang is only 101m long and only 61m wide. In addition, UEFA requires a capacity of at least 4,500, but the Jos Nosbaum stadium has a maximum capacity of 1,600. F91 Dudelange President Romain Schumacher said, "We have already applied for a special permission with UEFA" (LUXEMBURGER WORT, 7/26).
