Prize Money For Next Week's Open Championship Frozen At '11 Rate

The prize money for next week's Open Championship at England's Royal Lytham "has been frozen at the '11 rate," with the winner taking home £900,000 ($1.4M), according to Nick Rodger of the HERALD SCOTLAND. The total purse of £5M ($7.8M) has been "kept the same" with the runner-up earning £520,000 ($807,000) and other top-10 finishers earning six-figure checks. Players who make the halfway cut will be guaranteed at least £9,000 ($14,000) while those who fail to make the cut will still pocket £2,350 ($3,650).

HUNTER FUND: Friends and colleagues of late golfing great Adam Hunter, who lost his battle with leukaemia last year, have organised a Pro-Am "to honour his memory and help raise funds" for the Beatson Centre that treated him (HERALD SCOTLAND, 7/10).
