Liverpool FC Still Undecided On Stadium Plans

Liverpool FC has been given more time to decide whether "to move to a new stadium or stay at Anfield," according to David Bartlett of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. Liverpool council had given the club a July deadline "in the hope of ending months of uncertainty" over owner John Henry's plans for the club's stadium requirements. The club told the council "it was still not ready to make an announcement." The council agreed to "relax the deadline and allow the club more time" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 7/3). The London DAILY MIRROR reported that Liverpool still has "to make a decision on whether to press ahead" with the £300M ($470M) proposal to build a new ground in Stanley Park or redevelop Anfield. Breaking ground in Stanley Park is "dependent on a multi-million pound naming rights deal" being in place while renovating Anfield "requires a number of planning obstacles to be overcome" (DAILY MIRROR, 7/3).
