Sri Lanka Cricket Franchises Sell For Triple The Forecast

All seven cricket teams in the Sri Lanka Premier League franchises have been "snapped up with bids" worth more than $30M, according to the IANS. Sri Lanka Cricket, the country's governing body for the sport, said in a statement that the amount is $9M more than "the amount expected." Analysts described the successful conclusion of the SLPL franchise auction as a "jackpot" for SLC and the league, which "drew criticism as being a non-starter after being postponed last year" (IANS, 6/27).
