Dunfermline Could Replace Rangers In SPL
Scottish First Division club Dunfermline is expected to be readmitted into the SPL when Charles Green's application for a newco Rangers is officially rejected, according to the SCOTSMAN. Dunfermline finished last in the SPL last season so it seems appropriate they would be the team invited back to the country's top league, but "Dundee also have a claim given they were second in the First Division behind promoted Ross County." In other news, St. Mirren appears to be the latest team ready to vote against the Rangers newco application, if the board "listens to the views of the fans." If they do, they would join Dundee United, Hearts, Hibernian, Inverness, Aberdeen and St Johnstone in opposing the newco application (SCOTSMAN, 6/26).
