Bundesliga Set To Announce '12-13 Schedule Tuesday

The German Bundesliga will announce its schedule for the '12-13 season on Tuesday, according to the SID. German Football League Federation (DFL) CEO Holger Hieronymus said prior to the schedule release, "There will be two 'Englische Wochen' (english weeks) - games scheduled midweek - in the upcoming season. Both will be played during the first half of the season." In addition to the schedule release the Bundesliga also announced it will keep standing room in its stadiums and continue its format of relegation games. Both standing room and relegation games had been heavily criticized after riots overshadowed the relegation game between Fortuna Dusseldorf and Hertha BSC Berlin. Hieronymus: "We introduced relegation games in 2008, and there are no plans to eliminate them" (SID, 6/25).
