Laporta Criticizes Barca Management, Confirms He Will Run For Presidency

Former Barcelona FC President Joan Laporta has criticized the management of his successor, Sandro Rosell, and says the team sold its kit in the sponsorship deal with the Qatar Foundation for "a plate of lentils," according to the EFE. The deal with the Qatar Foundation, which was signed in Dec. '10 is worth €26M ($32.9M) a season for five years. Laporta said, "The Barcelona shirt is worth much more. It should be the best paid shirt in the world, but it is not." The lawyer who was Barcelona's president from '03 to '10 also confirmed his intention to run for Barca's presidency in the upcoming election. Laporta: "It's a thought and a reflection that I had. I am prepared to return as president of FC Barcelona" (EFE, 6/17).
