The U.K. Border Force has made its "largest-ever seizure of fake" Olympic merchandise at the port of Felixstowe, "after a container from China was found to contain a hoard of counterfeit products." The finding was part of a wider Border Force operation to identify fake merchandise such as sports bags, football shirts, vests and cigarette lighters in the run-up to the Games (FINANCIAL TIMES, 6/9). In London, Wesley Johnson noted that the counterfeit lump consisted of more than 7,000 fake Olympic bags, 500 fake cigarette lighters and 400 fake vests (INDEPENDENT, 6/8).

EXPANDING REACH: European Tour Properties has announced a new partnership with Golfbreaks.com, a European golf tour operator. Through the agreement, European Tour Properties will use Golfbreak.com's customer network to promote its destinations and courses. Golfbreaks.com's traveling golfers will gain preferential access to European Tour Properties' network of venues through promotions and special offers. (European Tour).

NEW NAMES: The Hertz Corp. has become the title sponsor of the 2012 British MotoGP, which will be held at Silverstone this week. As title sponsor of the British MotoGP, Hertz will receive media through a range of branding opportunities at the circuit, including at the trackside, bridge, starting point, winners' podium backdrops and clothing of the Paddock Girls (Hertz).
