Top Four Rio Football Teams Signs Partnership Agreement

The four biggest football clubs (Botafogo, Flamengo, Fluminense, Vasco) in Rio de Janeiro have announced a partnership outside of the pitch, according to Renan Rodrigues of IG. The partnership will be responsible for licensing of team products, combating piracy, creation of franchises outside of Rio and studies to improve box office profits. A contract was signed between the parties, but "any one of the clubs may leave the agreement at any time," without penalty. However, the intention is to keep the partnership together even if future changes in management occur (IG, 6/4). Lancenet's Igor Siqueira wrote that “the intention of the presidents is to better leverage the brand image of the clubs to bring revenue to the safes, including with actions outside of the state.” The initiative will be conducted by the marketing departments of each club with the help of sports marketing agency Golden Goal (LANCENET 6/4).
