Lightning, Raptors Hit Pause On Hosting Fans At Amalie Arena

The Lightning "will hold off" on their plan to host fans at games due to "rising coronavirus numbers." The team planned to open the season Wednesday with "around 3,900-4,000 fans" -- roughly 23% of the seating capacity at Amalie Arena. Ticket plans recently went on sale to Lightning season-ticket holders, but the "demand exceeded the supply, and roughly half were able to purchase season tickets." The Raptors also "will start playing in an empty" Amalie Arena. The team played its first four home games -- three regular-season and one preseason -- at Amalie in front of "fewer than 4,000 people." The Raptors were "one of the few NBA teams that opened the season with fans." Amalie "will remain closed to the public" at least through Feb. 5 (TAMPA BAY TIMES, 1/10).

The Pacers will have a "limited number of tickets" available for sale to upcoming home games beginning Jan. 19. Sales "will be limited to 1,000 tickets per game" through Jan. 25 and "gradually increase." Attendance at Bankers Life Fieldhouse is "limited to 4,500 fans or 25% capacity" for this season (INDIANAPOLIS STAR, 1/9).
