Today’s scheduled A's-Astros game at Minute Maid Park has been postponed following a positive test for COVID-19 in the A's organization (MLB).

The NHL is investigating whether former Panthers GM Dale Tallon made “racially insensitive comments during the team's two-week stay in the playoff hub city of Toronto.” The investigation was first reported by FloridaHockeyNow.com (AP, 8/28).

A tennis player has been withdrawn from the U.S. Open after testing positive for COVID-19. The player is asymptomatic (USTA). 

The SEC announced that bands and cheerleaders "won't be allowed on the field for SEC football games this season" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 8/29).

A Magic official said that the team met with Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff John Mina on Friday afternoon to "discuss policing in the community" (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 8/29).

Las Vegas-based economics analyst Jeremy Aguero "estimates it will take the Las Vegas economy 18 to 36 months to return to pre-pandemic levels." Aguero's clients include the UFC and LVCVA (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 8/29).

NHL Rangers Assistant GM Chris Drury "has withdrawn from consideration for the vacant spot in Florida following an initial interview with the Panthers' upper management" (N.Y. POST, 8/30). 

The Trail Blazers during last night's Game 5 against the Lakers wore headbands to "honor Cliff Robinson," their former player who died yesterday from lymphoma at 53 (Portland OREGONIAN, 8/30).
