Source: Wood Is Third NBA Player Diagnosed With Coronavirus

Pistons F Christian Wood "has tested positive for coronavirus," according to a source. The Pistons last night said that "'a player' had a positive result in a test Saturday, and had been in self-isolation since Wednesday evening." The Pistons played the Jazz on March 7 at Little Caesars Arena and Jazz C Rudy Gobert later "became the first NBA player to test positive for the coronavirus before Wednesday's game against the Thunder." Gobert and Wood "had some confrontations in the game at LCA; at one point, they were assessed double technicals." Wood is the "third NBA player to test positive" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 3/15).

Meanwhile, Gobert yesterday "announced a $500,000 donation" to "help fund relief programs" for employees at Vivint Smart Home Arena to make up for lost wages (BOSTON GLOBE, 3/15). Jazz G Donovan Mitchell in a video posted on Twitter yesterday updated fans on his recovery, saying, "I feel fine -- things are going well" (Mult., 3/14).

An unidentified XFL Seattle Dragons player "has tested positive for coronavirus." The player "reported his symptoms to team medical staff on Tuesday and was immediately placed in quarantine, where he has remained in the days since." The XFL said that the unidentified player "participated in Seattle's previous two games against the Houston Roughnecks and St. Louis BattleHawks but was asymptomatic at the time" (SEATTLE TIMES, 3/15).
