Nashville SC Sets Attendance Record, Draws Praise In MLS Debut

MLS expansion club Nashville SC "has already made history" as an announced crowd of 59,069 packed Nissan Stadium for the club's debut match yesterday against Atlanta United, setting a Tennessee state record for "attendance at a soccer game." The previous record of 56,232 was set in July '17 during an Int'l Champions Cup match between EPL clubs Manchester City and Tottenham at Nissan Stadium (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 3/1). Nashville SC MF Dax McCarthy said of the crowd, “On a nationwide phase, introducing Nashville to the entire world of MLS, they were top-notch. I give them an A-plus." MLS Commissioner Don Garber said that he was "awed by the spectacle of the event." He added, "Nashville, the crowd and the atmosphere over-delivered" (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 3/1)
