SUNY Cortland-Ithaca At MetLife Sets D-III Attendance Record

The 61st Cortaca Jug game between SUNY Cortland and Ithaca at MetLife Stadium "became the most-attended football game in Division III history, with 45,161 fans" on hand yesterday. The game in years past "averages about 10,000 fans" when played on campus. National Football Foundation N.Y. chapter Chair Marc Hudak, a former Ithaca player, was "instrumental in moving the game" to MetLife. The NFF "provided travel stipends to the schools." Ithaca "chartered 16 buses from its campus" for almost 850 students, while 580 students "planned to bus in from Cortland." Tickets to the event were priced at $15-35. (N.Y. TIMES, 11/16).
