Bob Cole Calls Final Game, Concludes "Legendary" HNIC Career

The "legendary play-by-play man," Bob Cole, "called his last game for Hockey Night in Canada to cap a half century behind the microphone" yesterday. NHL "greats" including Wayne Gretzky, as well as Cole’s former color man, Harry Neale, all "feted" him. Gretzky said, “Mr. Cole, congratulations on 50 great years of hockey. You were an inspiration to all of us in Canada.” Players from the Maple Leafs and Canadiens "met with Cole and took pictures with him before the game," while his family was on hand to "share the moment" (CP, 4/6).
