Broncos' Bowlen, Cowboys' Brandt Elected To Pro Football HOF

Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen last night was elected to the Pro Football HOF, adding the sport’s "most prestigious individual accomplishment to his resume." Bowlen "became the 16th team owner and only the second current owner" to be selected, joining the Cowboys' Jerry Jones. Six of Bowlen’s seven children and "several Broncos officials were in attendance" in Atlanta to represent him. Annabel Bowlen "represented her father during a group news conference with the other inductees," while Brittany and Patrick III were on stage "during the televised unveiling." Pat’s fight with Alzheimer’s "prevented him from attending," but his children "called him via FaceTime." His two oldest children, Beth Bowlen Wallace and Amie Klemmer, will take part in Class of '19 honors during the Super Bowl (DENVER POST, 2/3).

Also elected to the HOF was former Cowboys exec Gil Brandt, the team's "personnel architect" for the better part of three decades and a man on the "cutting edge of technology and player evaluation." Brandt from '60-88 "helped assemble the rosters for teams that went on to win two Super Bowls and 13 division titles and enjoyed 20 consecutive winning seasons" (DALLASNEWS.com, 2/2).
