Adidas today officially becomes the apparel partner for Georgia Tech. The launch is being celebrated on the school's athletics' website and social media channels (Georgia Tech).

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources "announced Friday that it's interested in moving forward with the plan to keep" the Verizon IndyCar Series Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle, "as long as sufficient changes are made in the contract" with race officials (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 7/28).

Braves announcer Joe Simpson "spent a full minute calling the Dodger organization 'unprofessional' and an 'embarrassment' for wearing T-shirts and shorts during batting practice at SunTrust Park," which led to plenty of social media comments from Simpson's broadcast partner Chip Caray, as well as several current and former MLBers (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 7/28).

UFC on Fox 30 drew 10,603 fans at the Scotiabank Saddledome, "producing a live gate" of $1,302,050.57. Those numbers "weren’t as high as those for UFC 149, the first UFC event in Calgary, which drew 16,089 people" (MMAWEEKLY.com, 7/28).

The Washington Valor won the Arena Football League championship even though the team "finished the regular season 2-10." They "beat the host Baltimore Brigade, 69-55." Both teams "debuted" in '17 and both "are owned" by Monumental Sports & Entertainment CEO Ted Leonsis (WASHINGTONPOST.com, 7/28). The game "attracted 8,183 fans, the lowest attendance number for an ArenaBowl on record" (WASHINGTONTIMES.com, 7/28). 

Barclays Center and Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum will "switch to strawless drink lids or straws made from compostable alternative materials by next year" (AP, 7/28).
