Nashville is "moving forward with its bid to be a host city" for the '26 FIFA World Cup (Nashville TENNESSEAN, 1/20).

Former FIFA President Sepp Blatter is "quoted as saying in a new book" that he called President Obama before the governing body awarded the '22 World Cup to Qatar to "tell him the U.S. was likely going to lose out" (ESPN.com, 1/20).

Manchester United tomorrow is "expected to complete the signing" of Arsenal F Alexis Sanchez, who is reportedly set to pocket US$692,970 a week to "make him the highest paid player in Britain" (EXPRESS.co.uk, 1/21).
