Weekend Hot Reads....

The BOSTON GLOBE's Kevin Paul Dupont writes it is time for NFLers to end their National Anthem protests. The country right now is at a point in time when "something as beloved as ... apple pie and ice cream could become a nuanced and heated political debate." Protests have a "shelf life," and for the players and coaches who "still feel compelled to make a statement, the right move now is to remain in a tunnel or under the stands during the anthem."

The LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL Richard Velotta noted this year marks the 25th anniversary of the Las Vegas Bowl, a game that is "well established in a prime scheduling location." The game is played in the middle of December, "well before the city's resorts fill up for New Year's Eve." Las Vegas has "hopes of developing a second bowl game if plans to build a 65,000-seat domed football stadium go forward."
