R&A's Peter Dawson Optimistic Course Will Be Ready For Rio Games

R&A CEO Peter Dawson today addressed construction progress on the golf course for the '16 Rio Games, saying, “I think we were very fortunate to start this process earlier than many other sports. While other sports were concentrating on the London Games, golf was looking further forward to Rio." Dawson added, "I'm glad we got started early because progress was painfully slow for quite some time, but I'm delighted to say that progress has accelerated in the last four months or so. If we keep going at this rate, we will have the course grassed by November, which will mean there’s two full growing seasons down there, which is certainly enough to get the course into perfect shape for the modern professionals" (“2014 Open Championship,” ESPN, 7/20).
