Celtics To Roll Out Alternate Logo With Silhouette Of Classic Leprechaun

The Celtics this week will debut a new alternate logo that was "created in-house" and is known as the "Lucky Alternate." The logo "features the classic image of Lucky the leprechaun spinning the ball on his finger, only in white silhouette against a green backdrop." It will "first be used on adidas team apparel and merchandise on sale through the team’s online store beginning this month," but Celtics season-ticket holders can "buy apparel featuring the new alternate logo two days before products are released to the general public." There are no "immediate plans to place it on game jerseys" (BOSTON GLOBE, 7/20).
