Univ. Of Texas Shoots Down DeLoss Dodds Retirement Report

Univ. of Texas Senior Associate AD/Communications Nick Voinis on Friday "vehemently denied" an Orangebloods.com report that men's AD DeLoss Dodds plans to step down by the end of the calendar year. Voinis said that Dodds "had no such plans." Voinis: "Three words. Absolutely not true" (SI.com, 9/13). Dodds yesterday said, "I’m getting old enough to retire, and I will. But when the time comes to do that, I’m going to give you a lot of lead time so you don’t have to speculate on it" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/15).

The original report cited sources as saying that Dodds would "move into a consulting role currently outlined in his contract," serving in a "significant half-time position." The sources said that he "would continue to collect his full salary" through his contract, which expires in August '15 (ORANGEBLOODS.com, 9/13).
