Vegas Soccer Exhibition Goes Off Without Hitch After Recent Melee
The friendly last night between Liga MX club Monarcas Morelia and El Salvador club Luis Angel Firpo at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas "was just that: friendly." Unlike the trouble-filled "El Super Clasico" exhibition match between Liga MX clubs Club America and Chivas de Guadalajara on July 3, there were "no fireworks ignited in the crowd, parking lot brawls, fans running onto the field or other incidents to put spectators in danger" last night. The game was "staffed with 85 part-time personnel from the Thomas & Mack Center, which operates Sam Boyd." Unofficial attendance for the match was 4,000 (LAS VEGAS SUN, 7/14).
