Pete D'Alessandro Reportedly Leaving Nuggets For Kings GM Post

The NBA Kings have "reached an agreement in principle" to hire Nuggets VP/Basketball Operations Pete D'Alessandro as GM, according to sources. D'Alessandro "beat out a strong field of candidates" to replace outgoing Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie, including Memphis Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace. D'Alessandro's departure from Denver is "another blow to the Nuggets' senior leadership" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 6/15).

Meanwhile, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson offered behind-the-scenes details of how the city retained the Kings, saying that his successful effort to keep the team in town was "one of the highlights of his life." Johnson: "I didn't win a championship on the court. This is Sacramento winning a championship" (SACRAMENTO BEE, 6/15).
