Big Ten presidents, chancellors and ADs today "unanimously recommended" new football division alignments that will begin in '14 and a nine-game conference schedule starting in '16 (MLIVE.com, 4/28).

The Packers on Friday signed QB Aaron Rodgers to a five-year, $110M contract extension, marking the "highest salary per season in NFL history," surpassing that of Ravens QB Joe Flacco (ESPN.com, 4/26).

Rutgers' spring football game yesterday saw "several hundred" gathered in support of reinstating former AD Tim Pernetti (NJ.com, 4/27). A Facebook group called "I Support Tim Pernetti" had 5,285 members "as of Friday afternoon" (NJ.com, 4/26).

Redskins QB Robert Griffin III yesterday at the team's NFL Draft party made his "first public appearance at FedEx Field since suffering a knee injury" in the team's season-ending playoffs loss. He "smiled and put his right knee through a few light tests for all to see" (WASHINGTON POST, 4/28).

Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, which will host the '14 World Cup final, yesterday "re-opened with an exhibition match despite not being fully finished" (LONDON TIMES, 4/28).

Petco Park on July 6 will host an exhibition soccer match between Liga MX clubs Xolos de Tijuana and Club America, billed as the '13 San Diego Clasico (Padres). 

Bobcats Owner Michael Jordan and longtime girlfriend Yvette Prieto yesterday "were married before about 500 guests," and afterward held a reception "in his backyard with 2,000 of his closest friends" (MIAMIHERALD.com, 4/27).
