Steelers Adjust Travel Plans, Not Using Hotels Needed By Evacuees
The Steelers “didn’t fly into New Jersey last night like they usually would” for their game against the Giants “because the hotel they planned to stay at lost power during Hurricane Sandy.” The hotel did get its power back, but ESPN’s Rachel Nichols reported a Steelers official said that “the team still decided to fly in this morning anyway so they wouldn’t be taking any hotel rooms away from evacuees.” ("Sunday NFL Countdown," ESPN, 11/4). On Twitter, Nichols posted, “The @Steelers have landed in New Jersey. Headed to a local hotel for a pregame meal” (Twitter.com, 11/4). The NFL “could not remember a team traveling on the day of a regular-season game” (N.Y. TIMES, 11/3).
