UCLA on Friday “unveiled an 8-foot tall bronze statue” of former coach John Wooden outside of a newly renovated Pauley Pavilion. The statue depicts Wooden, standing with his arms folded and holding a rolled-up program in his right hand, “peering out over Bruin Walk”  (ESPNLA.com, 10/26).

Baseball HOFer Jackie Robinson’s daughter, Sharon Robinson, will “join the Dodgers' board of directors, strengthening the bond between the team and its most historically significant alumnus” (L.A. TIMES, 10/28).
