Elevate brings on Ben Gumpert in new role

Gumpert was a member of SBJ's Forty Under 40 class of 2020Elevate

Elevate hired Ben Gumpert as the company’s new Chief Strategy Officer. The former Sacramento Republic President & COO had been consulting with Elevate Chair & CEO Al Guido for about a year before joining the company full-time. In his newly created role, he will oversee Elevate’s corporate strategy, positioning and product growth, as well as Elevate Insights, which does market feasibility studies, sponsorship valuations, fan profile analyses and pricing strategies, among other services. Gumpert’s work will be both client-facing and internal. Gumpert said one of the "neat things" about his role is that it is "a lot of the glue within the organization: How do we work better in between departments?”

Gumpert, an SBJ Forty Under 40 honoree in 2020, was with Sacramento Republic from 2017-21. Prior to that, he spent three years as CMO for the Sacramento Kings, in addition to four years with the NBA’s Team Marketing and Basketball Operations unit, where he was responsible for leading the team strategy and analytics group charged with improving business operations for NBA teams through data-driven projects.

Gumpert is closely acquainted with Elevate, which works with 175 teams, venues, and brands in some capacity. He hired the company to help Sacramento Republic during his time there, in addition to spending the past year getting to know the company’s business through consultation on its growth and private equity strategies. He also assisted the Bay Area’s 2026 World Cup hosting bid. He will primarily work out of the Bay Area and will report to Guido. “Maybe on both sides I think we were thinking about how to make a role. Most importantly, I’m here to make the agency grow, which has grown incredibly over the last four years, but there is much more work to be done,” said Gumpert. “This is sort of a dream role that combines a lot of what I was looking for.”
